Travel Vaccinations

Anyone travelling for Hajj or Umrah will need to have the ACWY Meningitis vaccine before travel. This should have been done no more than 3 years prior to travel and no less than 10 days before entry into Saudi Arabia. Once you have had the vaccine a free certificate will be issued which you will need to provide to the Saudi Arabian authorities when applying for your visa.

Please make sure you make an appointment to see the practice nurse as early as possible prior to travel – ideally at least 6 weeks, as a second appointment may be needed.

Malaria tablets must be bought directly from the chemist. An NHS prescription can not be given for these tablets as advised by the Health Authority.

Non NHS Services

Some services provided are not covered under our contract with the NHS and therefore attract charges.  The practice fully complies with competition regulations and sets its own fees for non NHS work.  The level of fees charged is based on the actual work required (with concentration of time and responsibility involved).  Our reception staff will be happy to advise you about charges, these are normally available in advance. Examples include the following:

  • Medicals for pre-employment, sports and driving requirements (HGV, PSV, private hire/taxi licence etc.
  • Letters and statements requested by patients for purposes other than healthcare under National Health Service
  • Insurance claim forms
  • Passport signing (for non UK passports)
  • Prescriptions for taking medication abroad
  • Private sick notes
  • Vaccination certificates
